“Leave No One Behind” Data Visualization Contest

The opportunity is given to all art and graphic design students to share their points of view and their understanding of the data related to sustainable development, the 2030 Agenda and its 17 goals (SDGs).
Based on the key message “Leave No One Behind”, the contest plays on the double issue of non-exclusion:
– non-exclusion when collecting statistical data: so that everyone is represented.
– non-exclusion at the time of data communication: so that the data are accessible and understandable to all.

Individually or in groups, the students will have to present a creation with the following objective:
– to make statistics speak differently,
– to pass on a message while exploring new ways to visualize data,
– illustrate the issues related to sustainable development and its measurement.

Projects must be quickly understood. They must also represent in an original way the issues (challenges and contradictions) linked to statistical data in the context of sustainable development while keeping a Swiss perspective.

It must be possible to exhibit and transport the projects (poster (world format), object or other plastic representation (max. dimensions 50x50x100cm), video or animated film (less than one minute).

A jury (composed of Mr Alexis Georgacopoulos, Director of the Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL), Mr Thomas Schulz, Head of Dissemination and Publications, Federal Statistical Office (FSO), Ms Aline Juchler, Visual Arts Specialist, Pro Helvetia, Ms Manuela Pfrunder, Founder and Director of Gestaltung Manuela Pfrunder, Mr Jacques Ducrest, Federal Council Delegate for Agenda 2030, and Marie-Josée Kolly, Datajournalist, Republik Magazin) will award the first three prizes at the FSO Open Doors, and the FSO staff will award the “FSO Prize”.

The projects will be exhibited during the first half of September at the FSO premises, then at the Kursaal Hotel in Bern during the UNWDF and finally at the Péristyle in the Neuchâtel City Hall.

It is essential to declare one’s intention to participate and to register (individually or in groups) on the page www.ecoparc.ch/concours-OFS until 20 July 2020.

The projects must be submitted by Monday 31 August 2020 at the latest to the Ecoparc Association in Neuchâtel!
