Five years ago, the 193-Member United Nations General Assembly formally adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on 25 September 2015. Former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon hailed the 2030 Agenda as a universal, integrated and transformative vision for a better world. “The new agenda is a promise by leaders to all people everywhere. It is an agenda for people, to end poverty in all its forms – an agenda for the planet, our common home,” declared Mr. Ban.
The current pandemic and other crises showed us how important it is to understand what is happening around us. To do that, we need accurate and good information, often in form of data and statistics. To take action to support and implement the Sustainavble Development Goals, we need more and better data on national and global level.
We are soon ready to announce more national and international Road to Bern events to support this process that will lead to a first discussion on data and pandemics at the virtual UN World Data Forum from 19 to 21 October 2020 as well as the physical Forum from 3 to 6 October 2021 in Bern, Switzerland.
Join us in the upcoming 372 days on the Road to Bern to the UNWDF and we invite you to support all actions to become a Global Goals Factivist! Check out this page: https://factivism.globalgoals.org/
