“The Bern Network” and financing statistical development to be discussed at Asia-Pacific Stats Café

“The Bern Network” and financing statistical development will be discussed in the latest episode of the UN ESCAP Stats Café. Register to join at Microsoft Teams Meeting on Monday 5 October 2020.

As part of the Road to the 2021 United Nations World Data Forum (UNWDF) in Bern, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangkok, is organizing the Asia-Pacific Stats Café around the topic of “Financing Statistical Development”. With only ten years left to achieve our 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, many countries still lack even the basic data required to understand the scope of their challenges, let alone create solutions. This webinar session will outline some of the recent developments in financing development data, including the Bern Network and discuss what support to National Statistical Systems could look like.

The session will be joined by ex-Chair of the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda (HLG-PCCB), as well as representatives from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Bern Network for Financing for Data Development, and the UNWDF.

The Stats Café is a series of webinar sessions initiated by ESCAP Statistics Division in response to country requests for advice, assistance and an opportunity to share experiences related to the impact of COVID-19 on National Statistics Systems.”
