52nd UN Statistical Commission Session Side-Events

The Side-Event “Enhancing financing for development data – Progress and innovations for implementing the CTGAP”, co-organized by the HLG-PCCB, UNSD and the Bern Network, will take place on 12 February 2021 via Zoom webinar .The purpose of the event will be to take stock of the latest developments and progress in implementing the Cape Town Global Action Plan for Sustainable Development Data (CTGAP) and the Dubai Declaration, with a particular focus on new approaches and mechanisms being developed by national statistical offices in developing countries, aid providers and multilateral institutions and initiatives such as the Bern Network to achieve more and better funding for data in the COVID-19 context and beyond.                                                                                                                            

Some days later, on 18 February 2021, an online webinar on the UNWDF will be organized by the UN Statistics Division and Switzerland. This webinar will cover the following topics:

• A stocktake of where the Forum community stands since the first forum in Cape Town in 2017

• Some early indications of how we expect to conduct UNWDF 2021

• What themes and areas UNWDF 2021 will be seeking to advance and events leading up to UNWDF 2021

• Discuss the future role of the Forum and how it helps to continue to build and grow a community across the global data and statistical community

o Ways to increase diversity and inclusion of untapped regions, demographics, and communities by leveraging virtual elements; o The role of various actors in making the Forum a success.
